The American Dancer: Middle Eastern Dance Series: Cassandra Vol. 1: Introduction To Bellydancing
Instructional Video
By Cassandra
Copyright 1999 Turquoise International
Running Time is 60 minutes (or 1 hour)

The video starts with a performance by Cassandra and then goes into the instructional part of the video.  Cassandra seems a little uncomfortable with the camera at first but does warm up to it.  If you’re a beginner this video is a great choice because Cassandra takes the time to break everything down and explain it in detail.  However, intermediate and advanced students might find the pace of the video to be too slow.  The video is not the best quality; it looks very much like a homemade video (and might be).  The scenery is just a plain backdrop.  The sound quality is not the best either but at least you can make out what she says although the squeaky floor can be a little distracting.  Despite those problems Cassandra is a very good instructor and teaches the moves in her video quite well.  Overall, I would recommend this video to anyone looking for a very good beginners video or a brush up on basic moves.  The pace of the video may be too slow for intermediate and advanced dancers.

Moves taught in this video:
Head Slides, Shoulder Simmy, Ribcage Circles, Hip Simmy, Hip Twist, Snake Arms, Lotus Hand Circles, Large Hip Circle, Small Hip Circle, Tunisian, Tunisian In A Circle, Tunisian Walking, Lifts Forward, Lifts side, Lift  Back, Lift Forward Back, 3 count.
